NameCreaganDescriptionPatrick Creagan was born 1833, Limerick, Ireland to Martin and Alice Creagan (nee Downey) He came to Australia sometime in the 1850's, though no shipping records can be found.
Patrick married Mary Donnellan/McDonagh at the Roman Catholic Church at Jamberoo in 1859.
Soon after, the couple settled on a farm at Dunmore, 'Mayfield'. The Creagan's eventually moved to 'Anglesboro' farm, just east of Mayfield.
Patrick and Mary had nine children –
Martin b.1860 (married Johanna Courtney, died 1935, Dunmore)
Mary b.1861 (died 1888, Dunmore)
Elizabeth b.1861 (married Hugh Gallen, died 1892, Kiama)
Thomas b.1863 (died 1878, Jamberoo)
John b.1865 (died 1941, Lismore)
Bridget b.1867 (died 1952, Kiama)
Alice b.1869 (died 1869, Shellharbour)
Hannah/Honour Maria b.1870 (died 1888, Jamberoo)
Catherine b.1872 (died 1961, New Zealand)
Sadly, three children died when they were in their teens, the result of an epidemic that swept through the area.
Patrick was a great horseman and reputedly would load his cattle onto the ship at Shellharbour, before setting of on horse to Sydney, often arriving before the ship.
Patrick's eldest son Martin, remained on the family farm. He married Johanna Courtney, who named the home ‘Anglesboro’, after the place of her birth.
Martin and Johanna had nine children –

Patrick Jerome b.1888 (married Annie Bower, died 1959, Dunmore)
John Joseph b.1890 (married Lilian Carmody, died 1980, Kiama)
Kathleen Romeaus b.1892 (married Gerald Kelleher, died 1982, Shellharbour)
Alice Winifred b.1895 (died 1975, Dunmore)
Elizabeth Mary b.1896 (married Frederick Cook, died 1933, Mullumbimby)
Annie Gertrude b.1898 (died 1976, Dunmore)
Martin Benedict b.1903 (married Wanda Marks, died 1971, Parramatta)
Josephine Johanna b.1906 (married Richard Murphy,
Martin Creagan died in 1935 and was buried at Shellharbour Cemetery. Johanna died in 1958.
‘Anglesboro’ was farmed by four generations of the Creagan family. In 2024, it was sold to Boral.
