He arrived in Australia in 1863 aboard the 'Persia'. His brother William had arrived in the country four years earlier in 1859, per 'Palmyra'.
The same year Dennis arrived; William married Hannah Buckley at Shellharbour. Hannah was the sister of Timothy and Daniel Buckley, who farmed the area we know as Killalea State Park today.
William and Hannah had four children, Timothy b.1863 (died 1865), William Patrick b.1864, Anne ‘Hannah’ b.1865, and Mary Margaret b.1867, before Hannah died giving birth to Mary 1867.
The following year, William married Honora McEncroe and they had six children, Catherine b.1869, Honora M b.1870, Bridget Ellen b.1871, John Joseph b.1873, Margaret b.1875, and Elizabeth Ann b.1878,
Three years after his arrival in Australia in 1866, Dennis Kelleher married Julia Buckley at Shellharbour. Julia Buckley was Hannah’s sister (William’s first wife).
Dennis and Julia had six children, Dennis William b.1867, Margaret Elizabeth (Grey) b.1869, Murtagh (Murty) b.1871 (died 1871), Johanna ‘Hannah’ (Gallen) b. 1873, and Timothy b.1874 (died 1874).
Julia died during childbirth in 1874. Her son Timothy died just 25 days old. They were buried at the Old Sand Cemetery at Shellharbour.
In 1876, Dennis married Elizabeth Cronin (nee Owens). They had another seven children, Mary b.1877 (died 1878 diphtheria), Eliza b.1878, Catherine Agnes b.1879, William b.1881, Grace Ellen (De Smet) b.1882, Hanorah Genevieve b.1885, John b.1887 (died 1887).
