We have three William Acorns coming to Australia and confusion has existed because of this.
WILLIAM ALCORN born to Joseph and Mary (Osborne) in 1830 Omagh Tyrone Ireland. The date of his arrival has not been confirmed as family histories and obituary reports differ slightly, he did come with or after Henry Osbourne (his mother's brother) and lived with him at Dapto.
He married Margaret Dorrough in 1857 lived in Dapto and then later moved to Foxground and retired to Bowral.
William and Margaret had no children.
ELIZABETH ALCORN born 1838 to Joseph Alcorn and Elizabeth Warnock (his second wife Williams mother had died) She came to Australia in 1860 on the ship Chance. She was William's half-sister and went to live with him at Foxground.
MARY-ANN ALCORN born 1843 to Joseph and Elizabeth (Warnock) arrived in Sydney with her sister on the Chance in 1860 and went to live with William and Margaret with her sister.
JOSEPH ALCORN Born c 1798 (may have altered his date for immigration purposes) to Nathaniel and Elizabeth (Mc Farlane). On the death of his second wife came to Australia with his remaining family, Letitia and Ellen, to join his son and daughters already in the colony arriving in 1869 on the Trebolgan.
WILLIAM ALCORN born 1814 (according to shipping records) to James and Mary (Carruthers) Omagh Tyrone Ireland married Sarah Keys (parents Thomas and Mary) came to Australia with their family of two sons and daughter born on the journey out. They arrived aboard the ship "Kate" in October 1851. Finally settling at CLEAR HILLS Shellharbour.

Agnes Bn. 1851 On the ship.

WILLIAM ALCORN Born 1818 to David and Betty in Fintona Tyrone Ireland. He married Sarah Keys (parents Thomas and Elizabeth) came to Australia with their three sons, William, Robert and John on the Garland arriving on 5th March 1851.
William and Sarah's children were.

John Bn. Fintona, Tyrone, Ireland
ROBERT ALCORN Born to Andrew and Margaret (Mc Cormack) He married Margaret Carson and with their three boys, two girls and his brother Joseph and family sailed for Australia. Believed to have arrived in 1857 in Melbourne and then came by steamer to Sydney.
Robert settled in Shellharbour for some years before moving to Kangaloon.
Joseph and his wife with their family settled in Dapto.
Robert and Margaret's children were.
