NameDawesDescriptionThe Dawes family farmed at 'Sunnyside', Albion Park. Their house is in what is today Church Street, Albion Park, once the only house in that area.

Joseph Dawes was born during a Leap Year, 29 February 1848. On the occasion of his 76th birthday, the Albion Park Show Society held a banquet in his honour, where he was congratulated on attaining his 19th Leap Year birthday.

Joseph Dawes married Harriet Barker in 1876, and they had twelve children; Frederick, Emma, Robert, Edward, Matilda, James, Mary, Amy, Norman, Alice, Joseph and Earl.

Sadly Alice died when she was just 2 years old, and Edward died as a baby in 1880. Earl was only eight years old when he died in 1908. Joseph Jnr was just 17 when he died in 1912, and Fred Dawes was 33 years when he died of a stroke 1910.

Joseph Dawes Snr. was one of the original Albion Park Show Committee members and served for many years as an alderman for Shellharbour Council.

Norman Dawes married Janie Johnston, daughter of John Johnston of 'Marks Villa', Albion Park.
