NameKing, (Moses Branch)DescriptionThe King's came to Australia from County Tyrone, Ireland aboard 'The Herald' in 1841.They were sponsored by Gilchrist and Alexander.
On board were William and Mary (nee Riley) and their seven children;
Moses b.1825, married Janet Russell, died 1903, (at hospital, Paddington).
John b.1827, married Elizabeth Dreany, died 1917, Kiama (Kangaroo Valley).
Elizabeth b.1829, married John Bailey, died 1912, Shoalhaven, (Bellawongarah).
Mary Ann b.183, married William Cooke, died 1928, Ballina (Alstonville)
Isabella b.1834, married John Ward, died 1918, Burwood (Homebush)
William b.1836, married Isabella Elliott, died 1915, Kiama
Dixon b.1838, married Fanny Bushnell, died 1933, Perth, Western Australia.
Four more children were born at Kiama;
Sarah Jane b.1842, married George Dawes, died 1929, Kiama
Samuel b.1844, married Sophia Hamilton, died 1877, Sydney.
Alice b.1847, died 1926, Kiama.
Isaac b.1849, died 1914, Kiama.
The family settled at Omega Retreat, Kiama, where William worked a clearing lease.
Three of William’s younger brothers, Alexander (Alick), Joseph and Thomas, a sister, Elizabeth, and his parents Moses and Mary, also lived in Australia. They had arrived in over several trips in the 1830’s.
William and Mary's son Moses King II, married Janet Russell, daughter of Ebenezer Russell and Jane Meek, at Kiama in 1855. Moses and Janet had 11 children;

Jane b.1857, married William Cooke, died 1935, Gerringong.
Mary b,1859, married John Elliott and Howard Wheatley, died 1940, Lismore.
Isabella b.1860, married Samuel Robert Cooke, died 1942, Ballina.
Moses b.1862, married Jane McGill, died 1919, Brisbane.
Janetta b.1864, married John Gray, died 1918, Ballina.
Agnes b.1866, married Benjamin Jackson, died 1946, Ballina.
Ebenezer b.1868, died 1870, Jamberoo.
Sarah Ann b.1870, married Ebenezer John McGill, died 1948, Jamberoo (Broughton Vale)
John Ebenezer b.1873, married Ina Cowan 1901 and Lily Margaret Freecorn 1912, died 1948, Bellevue Hill.
William Robert b.1876, married Alice Annie Swain, died 1954, Brisbane, Queensland.
Moses King III b.1862, married Jane McGill, daughter of James McGill and Isabella Russell, in 1888. Moses III's sister Sarah Ann, married Jane's brother, Ebenezer John McGill in 1909.
The King's farmed mostly in the Kiama, Jamberoo and Croom areas.
