NameWanalamaAlternative NameWoonallima ParkTypeBuildingDescriptionThe land Shellharbour Airport is on today was part of the original ‘Terry’s Meadows’ estate, and was farmed primarily by the Mark’s brothers (until 1881) and the Johnston family, until their land was resumed for construction of the Airstrip during WWII.
'Wanalama' was the name of the Samuel Marks' home in Marks Lane, which once ran through the centre of the Airport land, joining Tongarra Road with the Illawarra Highway. The Marks family lived at the property for 14 years, and eventually moved to 'Terragong' at Jamberoo, after taking over the farm from John Marks, Samuel's brother.
When the Johnston family purchased the farm, the name of their home was 'Marks Villa', presumably named after the Marks family.
It is unclear if 'Wanalama' and 'Marks Villa' were the same homestead.
