He was employed as a butcher and on 15 July 1809 was tried at York Assizes for the theft of a horse. Originally sentenced to death, this was commuted to transportation for life. Thomas was sent to NSW aboard the 'Admiral Gambier' arriving 29 September 1811. Thomas was five feet and ten inches, had black hair, hazel eyes and a dark ruddy complexion.
Thomas was assigned to Sergeant Robert Higgins at Upper Minto in NSW and 15 March 1814, married his eldest daughter, Mary Higgins, at Parramatta. In 1815, Thomas received a ticket of leave and by 1828 was a tenant farmer at Lower Minto, NSW.
Thomas and Mary had seven children:
Ann 1813 (married Robert Reid, died 1851, Menangle)
George 1816 (married Hannah Louise Rolfe, died 1853, Camden)
James 1819 (married Sarah Hoare and Ellen Condon, died 1867, Shellharbour)
John 1822 (died 1878, Shellharbour)
Lydia 1823 (married John Dyason, died 1843, Sydney)
Rebecca Margaret 1827 (married Martin Greales/Grealis and William Hoare, died 1891, Albury)
Thomas 1828 (died 1837)
About 1830, Mary left Thomas Seymour and moved to Dapto with William Ryan. Four children were born to the couple;
Sarah 1831 (married James Foley, died 1908, Goulburn)
Bridget 1832 (married James Williamson, died 1894, Corrimal)
William 1835
Peter 1837 (married Mary Condon, died 1923, Dapto)
Thomas Seymour received a Conditional Pardon in 1839 and continued to live in the Narellan district until his death in 1865.
Several of the Seymour children moved to the Illawarra.
James Seymour married Sarah Hoare in 1840 in Wollongong and they had twelve children who were born at Dapto and Shellharbour. One daughter, Ann Seymour married John Killalea, the son of convict Edward Killalea.
Rebecca Margaret Seymour married Martin Grealis in 1845. After his early death she married Sarah's (sister-in-law) brother, William Hoare in 1848 at Wollongong. Family members from the next generation married into the Condon and Killalea families.
John Joseph Seymour married Elizabeth Condon in 1864 and farmed at Stoney Creek and Kiama.
Sarah Ryan married James Foley in 1849 at Wollongong and they had seven children born at Shellharbour and Wollongong.
