John paid 10 pounds for himself and family;

John 17 years (married Mary Jane Cronan)

William Michael 14 years (married Elizabeth Maria Collins)
Thomas 12 years (died a week after arrival in Australia at the Infirmary, Sydney)
Mary Ann 7 years (married William Raftery)
John’s widowed brother William Brownlee and his family, were on board the same ship.
John and Jane’s married daughter, Jane aged 21, arrived in Australia with her husband John Quinn in 1856, aboard ‘James Ternie’. The same year, John Quinn died. In 1866, Jane married John Raftery.
John and Jane Brownlee had another son in Australia;
Thomas James b.1854 (married Johanna O’Neill)
The family settled at Kangaroo Valley, where John managed Henry Osborne’s estate. In 1857 John purchased land at Stockyard Mountain.
Jane Brownlee died in January 1860 aged just 46 years old, the result of being trampled by a horse at Marshall Mount. Jane was originally buried at the Old Sand Cemetery, Shellharbour, however she was later reinterred with her husband John at the Albion Park Catholic Cemetery.
John then married Mary Ann Swan (nee Prior) in 1866. Mary Ann was the daughter of convict Edward Swan (alias Hornsby). Her first husband William Prior had died at Yellow Rock Creek in 1860 after being struck in the head with a log he was felling.
John and Mary Ann Brownlee had one child together;
George b.1868 (married Elizabeth Johanna O’Keefe)
John Brownlee died in 1889 and was buried at the Albion Park Catholic Cemetery.
William Michael married Elizabeth Mary/Maria Collins at Wollongong in 1862. They had several children;

Patrick James b.1867 (married Margaret Elizabeth Morriss)
Murray Hughes b.1870 (married Mary Kenning)
Francis Peter b.1872 (married Catherine Agnes Morriss)

William started mining operations at Tongarra after discovering coal on his property in the 1880’s.
