NameBoothDescriptionRobert John Booth was born in 1837 in Tempo, County Tyrone, Ireland to Hugh and Jane Booth (nee Wallace).
He arrived in Australia aboard the ‘Kate’ in 1855, when he was 21 years old. Seven years later, in 1861, Robert’s parents Hugh and Jane Booth arrived aboard ‘Queen Bee’ with children Joseph aged 17, Margaret aged 12 and Thomas aged 8.
10 July 1860, at the house of Mrs Henry, Kiama, Robert John Booth married Matilda Henry.
Matilda was the daughter of William and Mary Henry (nee Emery). The Henry family, William, Mary and their children Matilda 19, Isabella 17, Anne 13, John 11, Margaret 9, William 7, and Mary 4, came to Australia aboard the ‘Bee’ in 1856. William, aged 40 was accidentally killed on the voyage, when a falling block struck him from above.
Robert Booth and Matilda Henry had ten children:

Annie Mary b.1872 (married George Vidler)
Joseph Wallace b.1873 (married Eliza Ann Beatrice Vidler)
William Hugh b. 1878 (married Annie Mathieson)
Edward Alexander b.1881 (married Elsie Louise Vidler)
The family first farmed at Jerrara, then at Dunmore, Terragong and after that their homestead farm ‘Woodstock’. The Booth’s retired to ‘Coral Cottage’, Jamberoo after farming for decades.
Matilda died in 1823, aged about 84 years, and Robert died in 1926, aged 88 years. Both were buried at Jamberoo General Cemetery.
