Hand made brass plaque.Provenance and SignifcanceThis brass plate once hung on the outside of L.R. Mood & Sons Coachworks at Albion Park, and was probably made on the premises.

Louis Robert Mood was born in Germany and arrived in Australia aged 5 years. The family settled in Kiama, and after Louis married, he moved to Shellharbour, where he and his brother Henry, established a coachworks (Site of the current Shellharbour Garage, Addison Street).

By 1895, Louis moved his half of the business to Tongarra Road, Albion Park. The company was renowned for its variety and quality of horse drawn vehicles. Mood Park at the crossroads at Albion Park is named in his honour.
