L-R Joseph Downes, Grandmother Downes, her sister Mrs. Murphy, Mary Downes, Gerald Downes and their pet dog.Provenance and SignifcanceThe Couch sisters, Annie Elizabeth and Ethel Maude and Myrtle May lived at Mangerton and drove to the family farm 'Wairanga', Yellow Rock, to conducted the local Sunday school from the old buggy shed on the property.

Annie was born in 1873 to George Couch and his first wife Annie Elizabeth Collins.

Ethel and Maude were born 1880 and 1885 to George Couch and his second wife Catherine Connolly.

George Couch farmed at Dunmore for many years before retiring to Wollongong. George's brother Edward Couch built 'Wairanga' at Yellow Rock, which was later farmed by Edward's son, Eric and his grandson Logan.
