Christopher married Annie Musgrave in Wollongong in 1879. Annie was born 1849, Tyrone, Ireland to William Love and Ann Jane Musgrave (nee Wallace). The Musgrave family had arrived in Australia in 1860 aboard ‘Chance’.
Christopher and Annie had five children;
John William b.1880 (married Esther Beaver, died 1959, Nowra)
Ethel Adeline b.1881 (married William Neils Henry Lauridsen, died 1958, Newcastle)
Charles Clinton b.1884 (married Alice Puttnam, died 1954, Shellharbour)
Lily Love b.1887 (married John Percival Noble, died 1968, Campbelltown)
George Alexander b.1891 (married Wilhelmina Ellen Barclay, died 1958, Sydney)
Christopher James Cullen served on the Central Illawarra Council for 15 years and was Mayor for 11 years. He was a highly respected citizen of the Illawarra District, and a successful dairy farmer and breeder of milking Shorthorn cattle.
A Testimonial Presentation was given in his honour at Unanderra on the 25th March 1899 when he retired from the Mayoral position. The Illuminated Address from that presentation is part of the Shellharbour City Museum collection.
Christopher and Annie’s son, Charles Clinton Cullen, married Alice Puttnam, daughter of Henrietta Bush, proprietor of the Ocean Beach Hotel, and her first husband, Captain Edward Puttnam.
Charles and Alice had two children, James (Jim) Puttnam and Loma. The Cullen's lived at 'Driftway Cottage' Shellharbour, and helped Henrietta with the running of the hotel.
Charles Clinton Cullen served as Mayor for Kiama Municipal Council.
