Christopher served on the Central Illawarra Council for 15 years, as mayor for 11 years. He was an outstanding dairy farmer and breeder of prize winning milking shorthorn cattle (later known as the Illawarra Shorthorn).

Christopher married Annie Musgrave and they had five children; Ethel, Adeline, Charles Clinton, Lily Love and George Alexander.

Charles Clinton Cullen was mayor of Kiama. He married Alice Puttnam daughter of Henrietta (Bush) and Edward Puttman.

Alice's mother Henrietta, married Walter Bush after Edward's death, and built The Ocean Beach Hotel at Shellharbour Village in 1929.
