NameCarmodyDescriptionJohn Carmody of Berry married Ellen Sabina Taylor of Gerringong 2 April 1913 at Stella Maris Catholic Church, Shellharbour.
They lived at Five Dock for nine months before moving to Wentworth Cottage as tenants of the Reddall family in 1914. When the Reddall Estate was sold in 1922, the Carmody's purchased the farm.
Their children, Gladys Mary, John Raymond (Ray), Amy Margaret and Austin Canice, travelled by pony to Shellharbour Public School each day.
When Austin finished his secondary education, he went on to join the Christian Brothers Congregation at Strathfield. At the age of 18 Austin Carmody died tragically as a result of injuries sustained in a fall on the football field at Strathfield in 1938.
Gladys, Amy and Ray continued to work on the farm. Mr and Mrs Carmody died in 1969 and 1973. Wentworth Cottage farm was resumed by the NSW Housing Commission in 1972 and the cottage was resumed four years later.
Gladys (whose husband passed away in 1962) and Ray moved to Adelaide Place, Shellharbour. After some years, Ray moved to his own home in Wentworth Street.
