In 1835, Christopher married Ellenor Godkin 1835 (daughter of Thomas and Frances), at Wexford, Ireland.
The couple arrived in Australia in 1840 aboard ‘Formosa’ with their two eldest children, Fanny and Joseph. Ellenor’s shipping records state she was a dressmaker.
The Atkinson’s were part of a group of 23 families who came to Shellharbour with Caroline Chisholm in 1843 as part of an immigration scheme. Christopher and Ellenor had more children at Shellharbour; seven children in total -
