NameReddall ReserveTypePark/ReserveGeolocation[1] AddressReddall Parade, Lake Illawarra SouthDescriptionNamed after Reddall Parade. The Reddall family were descendants of the original Peterborough Estate owners the Wentworths. They became large land owners in the area.
Impressive rows of pines were planted along beach front reserves from the turn of the 20th century, increasing in popularity in the 1920's and 1930's, with guesthouse style holiday accommodation.
Pines were a favourite of annual Arbor days - especially following World War One, to commemorate fallen soldiers, arising from association with ‘The Lone Pine’.
Shellharbour Municipal Council initiated a program in 1985 to develop the Lake Illawarra foreshore for recreation and a site for tourist to enjoy.
Stage one, completed by 1989, included the construction of a left hand turning lane off Shellharbour Road; the construction of a kiosk, amenities block and hire facilities; the provision of car parking in Reddall Parade; barbecue facilities and landscaping.
