AddressWollongong Street, Shellharbour VillageDescriptionBardsley Park was named after Ernest Alexander Bardsley from Turramurra.

He came to Shellharbour on family visits when he was 11yrs old and continued to throughout his life becoming involved in the sporting community especially cricket. He played for Shellharbour and the team became known at times as Dr. Bardsley's team.

Dr. Bardsley became the patron of the Shellharbour- Cricket, Rifle and the Surf clubs, he was also known for his generous donations to clubs in Shellharbour.

On Sunday 5th October 1953 at the launch of the new surf boat for the Shellharbour surf club Alderman Grey unveiled the sign for Bardsley Park to remember the work of Dr. Bardsey.

Impressive rows of pines were planted along beach front reserves from the turn of the 20th century. This practice of beautification increased in popularity in the 1920's and 1930's, with guesthouse style holidaying accommodation.

Norfolk Island Pines were a favourite of annual Arbor days, especially in the years following World War One - to commemorate fallen soldiers, arising from association with ‘The Lone Pine’.
