NameMoculboTypeBuildingResidenceDescription'Moculbo’ was the home of Gabriel Timbs 2nd, Town Clerk of Shellharbour and Jamberoo, and son of Gabriel Timbs, Pioneer of Albion Park.

When Albion Park Catholic Church decided to build a new Presbytery in 1918, Gabriel Timbs purchased the original building, transported it, and built 3rd home in Taylor Estate sub division fronting Tongarra Road, on his daughter Gabrielle’s allotment.

C.1911 Gabriel purchased 27 allotments in his daughter Gabrielle’s name. Gabrielle was confined to a wheelchair all her life due to polio.

According to Shellharbour Valuation Book 1923-1925, Mr Phillip Lyons rented a house and 9 acres from Miss Gabrielle Timbs in the Taylors sub division. Gabrielle rented ‘Moculbo’ for a short time before the Timbs family moved in.

According to Shellharbour Valuation Book 1926-1928, Miss Gabrielle Timbs, dressmaker, was the owner of ‘Moculbo’, portion 3, lots 7-30, and lots 50-54, 9 acres. Her father Gabriel Timbs was the occupier and lessee at this time.

The Timbs’ home was a meeting place for dignitaries who arrived in Albion Park on business for Shellharbour and Jamberoo Councils. Catholic Bishops and Monsignors visiting the area would retire to Gabriel’s home for luncheon or dinner, with the Timbs home being the focal point of the district.

‘Moculbo’ was said to be the first house in Albion Park with two car garages, one on the eastern, and one on the western sides.

A slab building to the rear of the home was used as the laundry by Gabriel’s wife, Mary Anne (nee Scanlon).
