Provenance and Signifcance'Toongla' at Tullimbar, is believed to be built by Maurice Scanlon some time after he purchased the property from solicitor William Billyard in 1873.
The house was original built of bonded brick on a dairy farm of some 18 acres, subdivided in later years.
In 1898, William Moles, Mayor of Shellharbour Municipality moved to 'Toongla' from his Tongarra property. Title passed to his daughter's Barbara and Marion Moles on their father's death in 1911.
Maurice Scanlon's daughter Mary Ann Scanlan married Gabriel Timbs 2nd in 1886 and their wedding reception was held at 'Toongla'.
