The much loved toy was given to Ray for Christmas in 1923.
The blocks are of various sizes and are stored in a wooden box with a coloured picture of a church (you cam make with the blocks) and surrounding scene on the front.
Provenance and SignifcanceRay Carmody was born 6 August 1915 at 'Wentworth Cottage', Stoney Range, Shellharbour.
He worked the farm as a dairy after the death of his father, until it was resumed by the NSW Housing Commission in the early 1970s.
A great historian, Ray was Patron and Life Member of Tongarra Heritage Society and a foundation member of Tongarra Museum.
He was devoted to community work through his church and St Vincent de Paul Society.
He was a past Director of the Illawarra Cooperative Central Dairy Society and on the committee of the Albion Park Agricultural, Horticultural and Industrial (AHI) Association.
He was awarded Shellharbour Citizen of the Year in 1989.DonorCarmody, John Raymond
