NameThe BeachesTypeBuildingResidenceGeolocation[1] DescriptionThe original weatherboard cottage The Beaches was built c.1900 on land owned by William Wilson, son of pioneer Robert Wilson who owned the flour mill on the foreshore.
Samuel Hockey purchased the home in 1924. He was a fishing inspector at Shellharbour, and the Hockey family were well known fishermen in the area.
Material salvaged from the demolition of Robert Wilson’s original house at No 1 Wilson Street, was used to construct the additions to The Beaches in later years.
