NameDunmore HouseTypeComplexResidenceGeolocation[1] DescriptionGeorge Laurence Fuller began building his family home 'Dunmore House' of local basalt on a hill overlooking his estate, in 1865. Here, George and his wife Sarah (nee Miller) raised their large family of 12 surviving children; two of their babies sadly died.
One son, George Warburton Fuller went on to become Premier of New South Wales. Another, Colin Dunmore Fuller served with distinction with the Light Horse in World War 1 and was awarded the Order of the Nile.
George Laurence Fuller is noted for his generosity to the local community. He contributed largely to the municipality providing tenant farmers to work the land, expanding the blue metal trade, and providing cottages and work for the quarrymen. Fuller also gave land for the Shellharbour General Cemetery, Minnamurra School, and gifted a fully equipped operating theatre at Kiama Hospital.
