William Charles b.1860, was the son of Joseph jnr. and Jane Dunster who settled at ‘The Hill’ farm in 1865. He was born on the farm which he eventually took over from his parents.

Walter married Mary Agnes King in 1882, and they had;

Hilda King b.1887 (married Hector George Fraser, died 1958, Shellharbour)

William Darcy b.1896 (married Grace Winifred Sharpe, died 1976, Wollongong)

William Dunster was a successful cattle breeder and one of the founders of the Illawarra Milking Shorthorn Association. He was a keen judge of dairy stock and adjudicated at many shows in New South Wales and Queensland. William was for many years a director of the Illawarra Cooperative Central Dairy Factory and served as chairman of the board. He was a director of the Dairy Farmer’s Cooperative Milk Company, member of the South Coast Stock Board, and president of the Albion Park Agricultural, Horticultural and Industrial Society on several occasions.

William Dunster served as alderman of Shellharbour Municipal Council for 13 years and was twice elected mayor. He died during his mayoral term aged 59 years and at his funeral, his fellow alderman carried the coffin to the hearse from the train at Albion Park, and later to his graveside at Shellharbour. The funeral cortege was one of the largest the Illawarra had seen.
