NameBolin, FrederickOccupationTown Clerk Shellharbour CouncilBiographyFrederick Dorcen ‘Dorce’ Bolin was appointed town clerk in 1937. He join local government in 1922 in Newcastle, working there and at Cessnock before moving to Shellharbour to take up the new position.
During the war, Dorce served with the RAAF with a commission in Darwin, the Netherlands, East Indies, Philippines, and Borneo. Dorce served as town clerk during the Second World War and saw the construction of the airstrip at Albion Park for defence purposes and the training of pilots.
As well as serving as town clerk, Dorce represented both Wollongong and Shellharbour Council as secretary of the Illawarra Planning Authority. He served as executive member of the Local Government Clerk's Association of New South Wales and was vice president in 1957.
In 1948, while under his leadership, Council received the prestigious A.R Bluett Memorial Award, which demonstrated great relative progress in Local Government in New South Wales.
Frederick Bolin served in the position of town clerk of the municipality for 14 years.
