Walter was born to John and Annie Pearson (nee Barker) in 1883 at Marshall Mount. His grandparents were James and Zilpha Pearson.
Walter was in the Senior Cadets 1903-1905. He enlisted in WWI 30 August 1915 to 20 May 1919. He served with the 9th Battalion - No 4274 13th Reinforcements.
