Ron sifted shell grit through very fine wire sieves. Shell grit was then dumped in piles at Little Lake, then bagged a week later into sugar bags. The grit was transported to Sydney by truck. Ron worked for Don Lowe of Lake Illawarra and the grit was sold to poultry farmers in Sydney. The cart would hold approx 14-16 sugar bags full of shell grit. Ron was paid 1 shilling per bag.LocationWarillaDonorGraham, Ron
