NameGlenholmes, CecilBiographyCecil (Cec) was born on Mother's Day 12 May 1929 at Taree. He grew up in a farming community at Comboyne in New South Wales.
Cec attained a degree in mechanical engineering at the University of New England.
He joined the Army when he was 16 and was attached as part of the Second First Medical Corps. On leaving the Army, he returned to the land and his studies.
When Cec was 19 he married and had two children. In 1982 he remarried and had another two children.
In the 1950's Cec moved to the South Coast. He played first grade rugby league in Newtown, Sydney, while working in the New South Wales Police Force.
Cec left the Police Force in the 1960's and began work as an earth moving contractor at Port Kembla Heavy Industries, until 1970.
Cec joined Shellharbour Council as a alderman in September 1968. He served as deputy mayor for 11 years, and served as Mayor for 13 years. Cec dedicated a total of 34 years public service to Shellharbour City Council.
