This property, 'Croom', was part of a grant of 1280 acres given to Isabella Croker (nee Reddall), daughter of Thomas Reddall.
Isabella Croker’s Croom Estate was advertised for sale in August 1840. Ebenezer purchased 1280 acres for 5 shillings an acre in 1852.
Ebenezer cleared the land for wheat and potato growing, later converting the land into farms most of which he leased.Russell cleared the land and planted wheat and potatoes, and later changed to dairy farming. He was an Alderman on Shellharbour Municipal Council 1859-1864. At the second Council election in 1860, his property at Stoney Creek was used as a pollling place.
