It was situated on the Illawarra Highway, just west of the Tullimbar Lane on land part of the John Paul’s Grant.
The school played a vital part in bringing early education to Albion Park pupils. The denominational Macquarie River school was a wooden building used on Sundays as a Church, and capable of accommodating 70 scholars.
The teacher was Mr. W. H. Taylor followed in 1872 by Mr. James Cawdell.
In 1864 a ‘great tea meeting’ was held at the Church School of some 400 people and Ministers. Funds were raised to line and paint the schoolhouse and extend the school.(ref.
