The following year, 1973, the Lake Illawarra High school students and staff moved to Warrawong High.
In 1974 the school began in its present location but many of the buildings were unfinished.
The first Lake Illawarra High School Principal was Mr. H.T. Bellamy A.S.T.C. and an enrolment of 246 pupils, who were accommodated in eight classes at the Warilla High building.
Enrolments were estimated to 500 pupils by the time the new school was completed in Reddall Parade Lake Illawarra.
