NameWarilla Barrack Point Surf Lifesaving ClubDate1960'sGeolocation[1] AddressWarillaDescriptionIn the 1950’s, with Warilla Beach gaining in popularity, the need for a dedicated Surf Club arose. The first club, Warilla Surf Lifesaving Club, operated from the current site of Warilla Barrack Point Surf Club, but the club eventually discontinued.
A steering committee with members of the existing Shellharbour Surf Life Saving Club, was formed in the late 1950’s, with a view to establish a viable club at Warilla. Lod Leggett and his wife Gloria were instrumental in the club’s development. In 1960 a public meeting, and later general meeting, were held which resolved to establish the Warilla Barrack Point Surf Life Saving Club at Warilla Beach.
The original club house was relocated to the northern end of Warilla Beach in the late 1970s, after a large storm washed away much of the beach.
