AddressAlbion Park Showground, Tongarra Road, Albion ParkDescriptionA meeting was held at the Albion Park Public School on 6th June 1945 for the purpose of forming a Junior Farmers Club.

Mr. A. Chalmers, District Supervisor addressed the meeting of the benefits of a club in their area.

The Club was formed as well as an advisory committee of officers, Mr. R.C.G. Youll president, vice presidents Mr. McClellan and Mr. M. Walsh, and secretary Mr. Stan Thomas.

Jack Martin was first president of the Albion Park Junior Farmers in 1945, and with Allan Turner and Ken Henry in 1948, competed in the 21st International Dairy Stock Judging Competition at the Royal York Show in England, the team coming 5th place.

The members needed a clubroom, and approached the A.H. & I. Association committee who provided a site at the Albion Park Showground with co-operation from Shellharbour Council.

A disused WWII army hut from Port Kembla was procured and dismantled and re-erected at the Showground site.

The official opening of the Illawarra Young Farmers Club room was held on 18th October 1956 by Mr. Frank Cowburn, Director of Education who named the building, The Donald Youll Memorial Hall in memory of one of their club members. Donald, son of Richard (Dick) Youll, died at age 27 years in 1955.

The Rural Youth Clubs of NSW held the 11th Annual Conference at Albion Park 12th 13th and 14th July 1967, the first conference held in the Illawarra district. The conference was attended by the President of Rural Youth Clubs of NSW Mr. Geoff Boxsell, Mayor of Shellharbour Municipality Mr. Ray Hippisley, and Mr. A. Chalmers who spoke of the dairy cattle of the earliest settlers and dairy stock breeders who all played their part toward the prosperity of the district.
