The Dorroughs moved to Shellharbour as part of Caroline Chisholm's immigrant settlement scheme. Captain Robert Towns offered Mrs Chisholm his grant of 4000 acres in Shellharbour to settle immigrant families on clearing lease properties. The Dorrough family joined the ship to Shellharbour in 1843 and Matthew, an experienced farmer, settled and farmed his clearing lease in the area later developed as 'Shellcove'.LocationShellharbourDonorMcDonald, Colin
