He married (Elizabeth) Martha Daley in 1893. They had 6 children, all born at Mt Terry. David farmed at Mt Terry. In 1921-1923 David Timbs had local builder Thomas Whitfield build a new farmhouse ' Swansea' for him at Croom. 'Swansea' was later farmed by the Youll family. David was a good judge of cattle and horses and had a quality herd of dairy Shorthorns. Martha was a fine dressmaker and made her own wedding gown.
