James Jeptha Grey operated a store and post office at Albion Park. He had succeeded Robert Popple as Postmaster in 1863 and conducted the post office from a small room at the southern end of his store.
In 1874 postal duties were removed from James Grey after a series of complains from residents. On July 1, 1874 the office was transferred to John Wilson, teacher of the first Albion Park School, Terry Street Albion Park.
William Beach, champion oarsman, worked for James Grey at his store for a period.
