TitleWarilla Beach in the 1950sPhoto Number002097Date1950-1960DescriptionWarilla Beach is the most northerly beach within Shellharbour City. The beach is separated from Barrack Point at the southern end by the entrance to Little Lake. To the north the beach joins an unstable sand tombolo which extends to Windang Island. This tombolo generally separates Warilla Beach from the Lake Illawarra entrance channel. Between 1966 and 1968, Shellharbour Council built a seawall consisting of large rocks weighing up to 10 tons along the beach to protect it from heavy seas and erosion.LocationWarilla
