TitleMinnamurra School and residence, DunmorePhoto Number000675Date1980-1990DescriptionThe education complex in Swamp Road, Dunmore was opened in 1883, although the foundation stone is dated 1881. In 1881, two acres of land (809.4 ha.) were resumed under the Acquisition Act from G L Fuller for school purposes. The basalt rock school and teacher's residence was built shortly after. According to the Aldine Centennial History of NSW 1888, the school was built by Anton Ettingshausen. Mr Fuller wished the school to be called Minnamurra in preference to the old Peterborough named school, which had been positioned on Mr Fuller's land opposite. The school was officially named Minnamurra School in 1888. Mr Chris Richardson was appointed teacher in 1881 and Mr George Boulton 1888 to 1907. The Minnamurra School closed in 1907. The 21 children from Dunmore and Minnamurra were transferred to Shellharbour Public School.PlaceSwamp RoadLocationDunmoreStudioJim DerbyshireDonorDerbyshire, Jim
