TitleAlbion Park Hotel late 1940'sPhoto Number000314Date1940-1950DescriptionGabriel Timbs purchased this block from John Russell on 5th May, 1875 and built the Albion Park Hotel in 1879. James Condon leased the premises until the mid 1880s. Timbs sold the hotel to William Bendon on 25th February 1881. The hotel was sold again in 1884 to John and Margaret Martin. On the death of John Martin, Margaret transferred the lease to James O'Gorman, who eventually purchased the hotel in 1908. The O'Gorman Family ran the hotel until well after WW11. Subsequent owners remodelled the hotel to a single story building, less majestic than the two-storey and lace building of 1879.
