May was a gifted musician and on leaving school became a music teacher.

She married William George Harris on the 30 September, 1925.

May played background music for the local movies, was the pianist for the Albion Park Show Ball for 40 years and the accompanist for nearly all the concerts in Albion Park, especially her local Catholic Church.

May was the organist at St Paul's Catholic Church at Albion Park for 72 years.
