TitleGabriel Timbs Snr (1824-1901)Photo Number000536DescriptionGabriel Timbs was born in 1824 at Waddeson, Buckinghamshire, England. He arrived in Sydney on 20th May, 1839. He and his father, William, were employed by Henry Osborne at Marshall Mount. They later purchased land at Mt Terry. Gabriel played a vital role in the early settlement of Albion Park. He purchased building blocks in the township and, in 1876, built a butcher shop, blacksmith, shoemaker, dressmaker shops and a general store. In 1879 he built the Albion Park Hotel. He was elected an Alderman on Shellharbour Municipal Council in 1876, serving two terms. He died in 1901 and was buried in the Catholic Cemetery in Albion Park.LocationAlbion ParkDonorMartin, Jack
