NameIllawarra Rhythmic Gymnastics ClubDescriptionAt the beginning of 1988, Mrs. Fay Woods started up the Illawarra Rhythmic Gymnastics Club at the Warilla Primary School.
Mrs. Woods also started at the Lake Illawarra P.C.Y.C. that included ToT’s Gym and Fun Gym for the younger children. The Warilla Rhythmic Gymnastics Club also joined the P.C.Y.C. They competed for their club as well as the P.C.Y.C. at local and State competitions.
The club represented the South Coast at State level at Homebush each year for which they won Gold, Silver, and Bronze Medals. There would also be other competitions amongst other clubs from the Country and Sydney areas including Glebe, Nowra and Newcastle.
Both Fay and Richard Woods have been judging, training and administrating Gymnastics locally and Nationally for over 20 years. Their daughter Theresa 'Kay' Honeysett, was selected for the Shellharbour Bicentennial Hall of Fame.
Kay was killed in a car accident at the age of 28 years. She was a coach and judge, gaining State, National and International qualifications at Artistic Gymnastics and Rhythmic Sporting Gymnastics.
