NamePetkovskiDescriptionMichael Petkovski was born in 1958 in Yugoslavia.

In 1979, Michael married Lence, and together they had three children: David, Robert and Amanda.

Michael came to Australia in 1971 with his mother and two brothers, following their father, Dobre, who had arrived in Wollongong two years earlier in search of a better life for his family. They found that life in the Illawarra, which would go on to become the family’s home and an important part of their story.

In his younger years, Michael worked as a bank manager before moving into property development. From the 1980s through to the early 2000s, he purchased land and developed properties throughout the Shellharbour region and the inner city of Sydney.

In 1978, Michael and Lence purchased a block of land on Lake Entrance Road and built their first family home. It was there that they raised their children and lived for the next 22 years. The family later moved to Lake Illawarra before eventually settling in Shell Cove, where Michael and Lence spent the remainder of their lives.

Michael developed properties across many parts of the Illawarra, including Lake Illawarra, Windang, Warilla and Shell Cove. He had a particular love for Lake South and Warilla Beach, where the family spent many weekends swimming, enjoying the lake and making memories together.

In 1987, Michael purchased the historic Clermont Guesthouse on Reddall Parade. The property was later renamed the Petkovski Estate and remains in the ownership of the Petkovski family today.

The property became an important part of the children’s upbringing. David, Robert and Amanda would often help their father and mother with the day-to-day running and maintenance of the property, getting to know the many families who moved in and out over the years. They would even help with collecting the rent, giving them an early insight into the family’s property business.

In the early 2000s, Michael’s sons, David and Robert, followed in their father’s footsteps, continuing the family’s involvement in property investing and development. Together, they went on to purchase land and develop properties in various parts of Australia.

Despite expanding their property interests beyond the Illawarra, the Shellharbour region always remained home. David, Robert and their families continued to live in Shell Cove and maintained a strong connection to the local community.

Through the properties they purchased and developed David and Robert had a genuine passion for building homes where local families could live, raise their children and create lasting memories.

The families work throughout Lake Illawarra, Warilla, Windang, Oak Flats and Shell Cove became part of the family’s enduring connection to the region.

Michael’s legacy lives on through his children, his grandchildren and the many homes and properties he helped create across the Illawarra and beyond. Most importantly, his legacy is reflected in the family, values and memories he built throughout his life.
