TitleSeaview Farmhouse (Killalea)Photo Number008233Datec.1976DescriptionCopy of painting of Seaview farmhouse (Killalea), painted by Robyn Brown as a gift for Mr. Smith, who lived at the property 1976-1977.
Bradley Smith lived at 'Seaview' farmhouse with his parents for about 12 months 1976-1977.
Bradley's recollections are below -
'My memory is that it was still ICI, but that the decision had already been made to hand over to State Parks. The house had been let go for a long time, inhabited by squatters who had made a complete mess of the place.I do remember they wanted someone in residence to look after the house until such a time as it was handed over. We (my family, relatives and friends) put a lot of work into restoring the house to pristine condition, cleaning, gardening and painting the house. It was a beautiful place: a massive living room with a huge fireplace where we had roaring fires, a lovely sun room where we ate (one of the bay windows). It was an immense disappointment when it was burned down after we left. Also, my memory is that parts of the house - in particular an old laundry section - predated the Seaview house - my memory is that there must have been a dwelling on the same location prior to that, I remember us discussing this when we moved in. There is also a painting of the house from when we lived there, done by a neighbour, Robyn Brown as a birthday present for my father, painted from the only photo we had of the full frontal view of the house. This painting is more or less precise (aside from the addition of a cow etc) in its detail of the position of the house, the old track etc.'PlaceSeaview - KillaleaLocationShell CoveStudioBrown, RobynDonorSmith, Bradley
