During the Great Depression, Bill and his mother lived in the original Killalea family home (now part of Frasers farm 'Seaview'), which was between 'Seaview' on the hill, and Killalea Beach.
Bill later lived in a shack at Bass Point (near Bushrangers Bay, and gained the nickname 'Bushranger Bill'.
Bill assisted in the salvage of the Cities Service Boston wreck, off Bass Point in 1943.
