Provenance and SignifcanceAlbert Thomas was the son of William and Jane Thomas (nee Pearson, born 3 October 1886.
The family lived at 'Oakvale' farm, Calderwood.
Albert worked at Joe Izzard's store at Albion Park when he was a teenager. He also worked for Charlie 'Ameera' Box and delivered groceries to all parts of the district.
Albert conducted his own store at Waterloo in Sydney and then worked at a store at Beenleigh Queensland before enlisting for service with the 41st Battalion 14 March 1916, when he was 29 years old. serving in France in WWI. Albert's brother Walter, also served in WWI.
On his return from war he lived in Queensland before moving to Wollongong to live with his sisters, Fanny and Gladys Thomas.
