David had two older brothers, Archibald Innes Wares b.1842, and Alexander John Wares b.1844.
In 1874 at Kiama, David married Mary Anne Prior (daughter of James and Rosanna Prior). They had several children all born at Albion Park, Annie Adeline b.1877, John Alexander b.1879, Florence Rose b.1882, Elfreda May b.1883, David Leslie b.1886, and Archibald Prior b.1889.
The Manson's farmed land at Johnston's Meadows (Manson's Farm), on the right hand side of the old Calderwood Bridge. The farm was later owned by the O'Gorman's.
