It is not known when William and Mary Jane Cochrane arrived in Australia, but it must have been between 1850 and 1852, considering the birth locations of the two youngest children. Researchers Wendy and Terry Nunan in their 2014 book ‘Shellharbour’s Forgotten Cemetery and Selected Pioneers’ suggest William, Mary and Lilly Ann Cochrane, may have arrived in Melbourne in 1852 aboard ‘Don Juan’ – listed as ‘W. Coglin, Mrs and Daughter’.
