In 1908, Walter married Aline Caroline Engstrom who was the daughter of Carl August Engstrom, a Swedish sea captain who emigrated to Australia.
Walter worked in his father's (Charles) butcher shop at Shellharbour, and later with his brother George. In 1924, Walter had a refrigeration plant built for use in the bacon-curing business, and also his butchery business.
Shellharbour and Kiama had a combined brass band and Walter was a member, able to play several instruments. He provided transport to and from the railway station and camping grounds for people coming to the area for their holidays, as the only means of transport was horse and cart.
In 1924, Walter purchased land at Lake Illawarra and started a dairy. He operated the first milk run in the district, taking milk across the lake by boat to the people of Windang. In later years, he sold the dairy and used the land to grow tomatoes and peas.
Aline and Walter had six children -
May Eliza bn.1902 married Cecil Montague Lehman.
Ivy Aline bn.1909 married Richard Thompson.
Lillian Emily bn.1913 married Bertram Roy Pullen.
Robert Walter John bn.1916 married Jeannie Annie Tanner.
Grace Elsie bn.1917 married Jack Campbell Smith.
Raymond Charles Peterborough Inskip bn.1926 married Joan Amelia Breasley.
Lillian Emily Inskip and Bertram Roy Pullen had six children –
Carlene Mary bn. 1932 married Leslie Thomas Coulter. Carlene has written many articles on the Inskip family.
Margaret Ann bn.1934 married Claude Purdie.

Bertram Roy Pullen who worked at various jobs, including at Wickham's Store (formerly Allen Bros Store), Addison Street, Shellharbour.
Walter Inskip died in 1957, and Aline his wife in 1988.
