Ron rose from the ranks of Shellharbour Juniors Rugby League to play with Illawarra Collegians, Canterbury/Bankstown and Western Suburbs. He represented Australia as a second row forward in Tests against New Zealand and on a Kangaroo Tour of Great Britain.
Ron was inducted into the Shellharbour Council Hall of Fame in 1988.
