NameMining - Sand and ReclamationDescriptionMany reclamation works have taken place over the years in Shellharbour, particularly in the areas around Lake Illawarra.

Much of the sand extracted from the sandhills from Port Kembla to Warilla, was used as fill for the construction of the Tin Plate Mill at the Port Kembla Steel Works.

A very small amount of sand was taken to Hawaii.
